Detective Palumbo ordered a drink @ da bar in Tahoe motel wen a young man wif sun-bleached golden hair & tanned cheeks sat on da stool beside him.Afta ordering a scotch da sunburned man nodded toward da gaming tables.”My name is John Patmos”he said “Its great 2 be bak in civilization & hear people&money talkin out loud.”Palumbo introduced himself.”I guess uve been out in da desert”"Yes I got bak yesterday” said Patmos. “Washed da dust out of my ears had a barber shave off my seven months of whiskers & trim my hair. All I had 2 do was show my assay report. am I going 2 celebrate.”"u found gold?” asked Palumbo.”Yes sir. Hit da big load.”Patmos stroked his bronzed chin thoughtfully; den in a low voice he said”if I can find a backer Ill take enough out of those hills 2 buy 10 pleasure palaces lyk dis 1. if U know some1 whod lyk 2 get in on a sure thing let me know.“u’d betta improve ur story if u want 2 sucker some1 into a deal dats worthless.”How did Palumbo know da story was fictitious?

He claimed to have shaved off his whiskers and yet had tanned cheeks. They wouldn’t be tanned if he had a beard!
Well, I’m working, so not much time to look through it, but at first glance, they were in Tahoe motel, not in the desert.
The man was lying because he had shaven and the “beard” wouldn’t have allowed his skin to tan.

2 if he found gold than he did not need a backer!
Sarcos right his cheeks wouldn’t be tanned
he didnt shave his beard…so this would mean that he was lying
y would he take enough gold from “those” hills, if his out from d desert looking for gold?
